How do iyou know if your pool has a leak?
If you are topping up more than 2 inches of water a week, it is safe to say your pool is loosing water.
All pools loose some water through evaporation and outdoor pools can sometimes gain water from rain, meaning your water levels will fluctuate over time.
Pools are obviously meant to be watertight but over time as the pool ages parts of the pool will begin to deteriorate such as sealants, tiles can shift, liners can get torn and pipes can fracture.
Frost and incorrect use of equipment can also be culprits when it comes to leak so regular maintenance and correct winter close downs will help to protect against leaks.
The leak may only be slight however over time this can affect the ground works and cause other issues which is why we advise leaks are dealt with straight away to prevent any long term more expensive issues from occurring.
RTW Pool & Spa can help identify the cause of the leak using several methods including pressure tests, leak dye testing or a dive.
The pressure test works by pushing air into your system to see if the pressure drops this enables us to track where the pressure is dropping and therefore find your pool leak.
The leak dye test is very effective in pinpointing where a leak is coming from especially from pipes and equipment.
In some circumstances it may be necessary to dive to investigate cracked tiles, torn liners and the main drain.
